Manor Vorontsovo
Vorontsovo Estate – a unique architectural monument and a magnificent example of garden and park art. This monument is mentioned in a document of 1451. The first owners of the estate were the Vorontsov boyars.
History of the estate
It was not possible to preserve the building of the estate in its original form. During the Patriotic War of 1812, all wooden structures were damaged by fire. During this period, an airship was being built on the estate, which was to be used for military purposes. The project was not completed. However, the French knew about the construction of the balloon. The people guarding the estate were accused of arson and shot. 26 people died. When leaving Moscow, the French troops plundered the manor house. The art gallery was especially damaged, and some of the buildings were burned down.
In the 1920s, the estate complex was restored. The buildings of the estate, stables, guest and summer outbuildings were restored.
After the revolution of 1917, a biological station was set up on the territory of Vorontsovo, and then a pig farm. The park has a football field. Only in 1960 the estate was recognized as an architectural monument and began to be protected by the state. However, despite this, in 1979, the burials in the park were destroyed. They were razed to the ground by bulldozers.
The issue of restoring Vorontsovo was raised in 1995. In 2005, a reconstruction plan was developed, and by 2006, most of the park's territory had been ennobled. The entrance gates have also undergone restoration, which have taken on their original appearance.
There was a revival of the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity, founded in 1807. At the moment, the church has been restored and everyone can visit it.
Excursion programs
It is best to visit the park in the summer, because on its territory there is a cascade of ponds and you can ride a boat. Rare specimens of trees also grow there. The park has two oak trees that are over 250 years old, and the elm alley is protected as a natural monument. In addition, in Vorontsovo you can visit an analogue of the Chinese Garden, where you can enjoy peace and quiet.
In winter, visitors also have something to do. Every year, an ice slide is arranged for sledding, and in the very center of the Vorontsovsky Park, the Miracle Hill is set up.
Thus, the Vorontsovo Estate is a great place for walking with the family. Here you can not only admire the beauty of nature, but also touch the history of our country.
